Objective
To design and document a Lego Architecture-style model of Charleston, SC, replicating the aesthetic and informational style of official Lego Architecture Skyline sets. The goal was to create a buildable and visually appealing model, complete with an instruction booklet detailing the design choices and inspiration behind each structure.
Design Elements
Research & Selection: Meticulous research of Charleston's iconic architecture to identify key landmarks and their distinctive features. Careful consideration was given to selecting buildings that best represent the city's unique character and architectural styles.
Digital Modeling: Use of Lego CAD software to create a 3D digital model of each building, paying close attention to scale, proportion, and the use of Lego elements to accurately represent architectural details. This stage ensured structural integrity and allowed for refinements.
Color & Material Selection: Selection of Lego brick colors and specialized elements to accurately reflect the real-world appearance of each building. This involved careful consideration of materials and textures to achieve visual realism.
Instruction Booklet Design: Creation of a detailed instruction booklet mirroring the style of official Lego sets, including clear, step-by-step instructions and descriptions of each building's real-world counterpart and its significance within Charleston's history and cityscape. The booklet was designed to enhance the building experience and provide historical context.
Conclusion
The final product is a meticulously crafted Lego model of the Charleston skyline, accurately reflecting the city's unique architectural character. The accompanying instruction booklet enhances the building experience by providing historical context and design insights. This project showcases my proficiency in digital Lego design, attention to detail, and ability to blend creative vision with technical precision.
